Sandbach Park Project Update Autumn 2011
This year the Steering Group has taken forward two main projects. In April a play area for children ages 6 to 15 years was provided, and in early September a play area for toddlers up to 8 years was opened within the sensory garden.
The Steering Group will now proceed to other projects and work is likely to start in 2012/2013. Projects have been selected taking into account the needs of all age groups (including the feedback from consultations exercises undertaken in 2009 and 2011) and having regard to the overall environmental impact on the park.
Projects will include –
Ø A multi-use games area (“MUGA”) to include tennis and other sports.
Ø An outdoor gym (carefully selected pieces of equipment)
Ø Picnic tables (near the MUGA and outdoor gym area)
Ø Replacement skate park facility.
Ø Improvements to the pond and wetlands area.
Ø Improvements to the paths around the park.
More information will be provided about the progress of each project as and when resources allow and details will be posted on park notice boards and published through local newspapers.
The Steering Group wishes to stress that in developing projects the needs of all park users will be the guiding factor. The support given by the public, Cheshire East Council and its officers, Sandbach Town Council and the Friends of Sandbach Park is very much appreciated.
