Dementia Friendly Sandbach to run monthly Dementia Friends Information Sessions

//Dementia Friendly Sandbach to run monthly Dementia Friends Information Sessions

Sandbach Partnership, who are leading the initiative to establish Sandbach as a Dementia Friendly community, are to run monthly Dementia Friends Information Sessions to raise awareness about dementia around Sandbach. Three local residents, Dot Flint, Sandbach Partnership Chair, and local Rotarians Jane Spencer and Dave Whitworth were recently trained in Crewe as Dementia Friends Champions to run these sessions, together with local resident Helen Williams, who as a Champion has already created over 300 Dementia Friends.

The first two monthly sessions are now available for booking:

16th August 2018 at Miola Coffee Lounge, Ettiley Heath starting at 10am

18th September at Wheatsheaf Hotel, Sandbach starting at 6pm.

Each session lasts between 45-60 minutes and is free of charge to anybody to book a place and come along.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

Anyone wanting to attend either Dementia Friends Session should contact Dave Whitworth on 07593 533260 or register online via www.dementiafriends.org.uk. People can also get involved in Dementia Friends through an online video. Go to www.dementiafriends.org.uk to find out more.
